Friends, it’s been a while! Hope you’ve been well. Just in time for our favorite season of autumn, we are emerging for the first time as Nyleau, for a show in New York at The Bowery Electric (Map Room) on Wednesday, October 9! (FB link here). We are looking forward to it, and hope to see our east coast friends there.
As to the elephant in the room….You may be asking, what’s the deal behind the new name?
The name is a result of a long and gradual marination process in the last few years of quietly questioning and reclaiming our identity, while creating space for the looming desire to change (as well as embrace some practicality — hello, shorter name!).
While bittersweet, it’s a special culmination of the growth and epic journey we’ve had as Underwoman and the Believers, and the start of an exciting new chapter.
And fear not, although not our main name anymore, Underwoman and the Believers will still remain a part of our DNA and her spirit will live on in Nyleau.
Thank you for being patient with us as we transition our (internet and otherwise) presence at a pace that is gentle and honoring of where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we’re headed. So far, it feels peaceful and right, familiar, yet new.
As always, thank you for supporting us regardless of whatever name you call us.
